The Hamas-led Palestinian government has agreed to an international peace conference with Israel. This, after the Arab League called for an emergency international peace conference to resolve the Arab-Israeli dispute -- based on the principle of land for peace. The Arab League also pledged to end a financial blockade on the Palestinian Authority.

Top Arab diplomats from 11 Arab countries gathered in Cairo on Sunday to end a financial blockade on the Palestinians. The meeting came in response to a US veto to a United Nations Security Council draft resolution, condemning Israel for its deadly military offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa said: "We are not going to be party to any blockade or siege or punishment on the Palestinian people. We will work together in order to guarantee that all help needed will be afforded to the Palestinians."
