Ethiopia to against Somalia militants

The Ethiopian Parliament on Thursday adopted a resolution which authorizes the government led by Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to take "all necessary" action against invasion by the Union of Islamic Courts or UIC in neighboring Somalia.

In response the UIC has declared what they're calling a "jihad" on Ethiopia. On Wednesday, Somalian Islamists used a landmine to blow up a truck carrying Ethiopian soldiers, killing several in the process. Earlier in June, the UIC seized the Somalian capital of Mogadishu and much of the south, in a direct challenge to the government's authority.
