A group of US nuclear experts has returned to Beijing from Pyongyang after talks on disabling the DPRK's nuclear facilities. Chinese officials involved in the Six Party talks met with the US group in the capital on Thursday.
The group, led by Sung Kim, the US State Department's top Korea expert, spent a week in Pyongyang trying to finalize details on the scope and process of disablement. The talks were a follow-up to the latest round of six-party talks held earlier this month in Beijing.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry says the working group on economic and energy cooperation will also meet soon.. to discuss the second phase of action for the Six Party Talks Joint Statement released on October third.
Liu Jianchao, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "China sincerely hopes that the document could be implemented in an all-round, balanced and smooth way, through the mutual efforts of all parties."
In the joint document, the DPRK agreed to disable all its existing nuclear facilities, and provide a full declaration on all its nuclear programs by the end of this year.
