Cross-Straits Forum gets underway in Shanghai

KMT Honorary Chairman Lien Chan also hailed the development  of cross-Straits ties.

Lien Chan said, "One of our primary tasks today is to normalize the cross-Straits economic and trade relations, especially the establishment of an effective trade cooperation mechanism. This is a subject of strategic importance. Of course we can't expect to turn it into reality overnight. But it's the direction of future development."

The cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum is a regular communication platform between the two sides. It was launched in 2005.
