Al-Bashir says he wants to prove that people in the region are united in their support for him, in defiance of an international warrant for his arrest.

Speaking to thousands at a rally in the southern Darfur town of Sibdu, al-Bashir denounced the West for allegedly trying to split Darfur from the rest of Sudan and seeking to create chaos in the country.

This was al-Bashir's second visit to Darfur since the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest on March 4th on charges of war crimes.

Al-Bashir says the court's decision is a conspiracy against Sudan and its national unity.
