Bangkok's Criminal Court ordered the three protest leaders remain in custody for another seven days. Thirteen arrest warrants were issued on Tuesday, including one for exiled Prime Minister Thaksin.
In a related development, Nicaragua says it granted Thaksin a passport in January and named him a "Nicaraguan ambassador on a special mission". The Thai has now revoked Thaksin's passport, accusing him of stoking unrest. This complicates efforts to extradite him. A Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman says he cannot confirm that Thaksin has a Nicaraguan passport. He says authorities are trying to "make clear which other passports he is holding."
