The auction officially began at around 9am with over 500 businessmen registering. Every seat in the main stand of the Ditan Gymnasium, which can accommodate more than 1000 people, was taken.

The principal of Ditan Park told reporters that 60 percent of those who registered are post-1980s and post-1990s businessmen, of which the youngest was born in 1991. Although young, the businessmen were decisive and frequently bid on the spot.

The No.1 booth auctioned first has attracted the highest bid at Ditan Temple Fair over the years, with a reserve price of 2000 yuan. However, the auctioneer had no sooner offered the price than it rose to 15,000 yuan.

Finally, No.1 booth was auctioned for 20,600 yuan, nearly 6000 yuan higher than the 14,800 yuan winning bid of last year. Many other booths were also auctioned for over 10,000 yuan.

When the reporters left the site at 11am the auction was still ongoing and was expected to be completed in the afternoon.

The 25th Ditan Temple Fair is scheduled to be held in Ditan Park between February 13 and February 20 2010, lasting for a total of eight days.
